Summer Starter Roundup

Happy Friday! 

This week has felt so long and for once that is a good thing! The first half of the week I was busy writing my last paper for the semester (I'm finally done, yay!) And the second half of the week I spent watching Grey's Anatomy. I am still addicted to Grey's Anatomy and I will be spending the rest of the summer watching it! 

Today I wanted to share with you a few things that I have been eyeing to kick off summer! In Wednesday's post, here, I chatted about those Ray Ban Aviators. I am obsessed! I am also loving one pieces this year! I am never really comfortable in a two piece and there are so many fab one pieces that are hard to resist! Mara Hoffman and Trina Turk are my favorite designers right now! 

I have really been trying not to buy makeup as often, but summertime calls for great lip glosses! I am also looking for a few good summer reads! Do you have any recommendations?

Christmas Deets

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday with their families and friends! I sure did! Santa treated me extra well this year and I got to spend time with all of my loved ones! I wanted to share a few snapshots of our Christmas!

This year I learned how to make bows! So that basically means that every present had one on it (which is such a bad thing, it just takes some extra time). I was also obsessed with this combination of plaid paper with gold bows!

Jay always spoils me (way to much) and this year he got me a new desk for Christmas! I can't wait to organize everything and get it ready for working! I will be sure to do a post all about it when it's ready!

Lately I have been completely obsessed with bar carts! They are so cute and you can dress them up for every season and holiday. When my mom and I were setting up for Christmas dinner, we decided to put the wine and some cookies out on her bar cart (ish table-thingy, lol)! I love the way that it turned out! It was so perfect.

Obviously, it is known that I am addicted to makeup. I have been dying to try out some more makeup from the Tom Ford line. Needless to say, Jay and my parents delivered and I am so thankful they did! Jay also added in the Christian Louboutin rouge nail polish and the rents blessed me with a Louis Vuitton makeup/toiletries bag!

Worm is worn out from all of the commotion but thankful that Santa didn't forget him! He is loving all of his new toys and his new favorite blanket from his grandma.

My mom always decorates our house so pretty. She is so talented and just has an eye for good decorating. She usually does our tree in fruit and but this year she did red, gold and silver balls! She spent so much time decorating the tree. In the middle of December, she got really sick (with pneumonia and bronchitis) and she still continued to decorate our tree. She put the lights on with zip ties and it looked so beautiful! She is the best momma ever!

If you know me you know I'm crazy over animals, especially the puppies. I decided this year to donate my charity money to my local animal shelter and I went shopping for all kinds of puppy goodies (food, treats, toys, owls and etc.,). That really put me into the Christmas spirit and help me remember the true meaning of Christmas. I decided to make dog treats for all of the pups in the family and worms friends too! I will do a post soon on the easy recipe I used! 

I cannot wait for the upcoming year and I already have ideas for blogposts that are soon to come! If you have any requests please let me know! I will have full reviews of some of the items I received for Christmas. I can't wait to share some goodies I got with you all! 

Design Darling

#OMG

My Design Darling order arrived yesterday! Last week/ weekend the boutique had a sale and I finally took the plunge and ordered the items that I had been eying for...well... a few months (to say the least.) I have been on edge and so excited for them to arrive and today... they showed up on my front step!

YAY!

I ordered a Shanghai Lotus Candle, Ginger Jar Matches and a Monogrammed Acrylic Pencil Cup. I am so pleased with the quality of everything! I am already planning another order :) I have recently fell victim into a blue and white obsession. I am so addicted and feel like I am a little late on the bandwagon. With that being said two, out of the three items purchased were blue and white!

The blue and white candle is perfection! I'm too crazy about the scent, which surprisingly isn't why I bought the candle in the first place. ok, I understand if you think I'm crazy... most of the time I think I am too! lol. Anyways, the little candle is a perfect decoration and can be reused in many ways! I felt that it was only right to purchase the blue and white ginger jar matches to go along with my new candle. But, how could I buy them without getting my mama a set too? I mean she IS the one who turned me on to blue and white... she is literally the Queen B of blue and white everything!! So I bought her some too. I was so happy to see that you can three boxes of matches in each order! I thought you only received one box of matches so I was ecstatic!

The last item I purchases was the gold monogramed acrylic pencil holder. I have wanted one of these for quite a while and finally broke down and got one. Now, I just need to get the rest of the collection and work on making my desk area ask chic as possible. It is currently not as stylish and inspirational as I wished it was. I would like to add a few inspirational prints and fun colors and such to inspire me to work hard!

Overall I am so impressed with my order from DesignDarling.com and cannot wait to order some more. I think it is the perfect boutique to order gifts for friends or holiday presents!

Lulu and Georgia "Girl About Town" Marni {Print}

 

Today I am going to be sharing with you all y'all {you all is so weird?} my new(ish) addition to my room! When I say new(ish) I mean... Jay bought this print for me in February and I am just now getting around to framing it and hanging it, lol. I absolutely adore these "Girl About Town" Prints from Lulu and Georgia. They are seriously just the coolest- little- feminine prints and I just think they are so fun!

I decided to write about how I framed mine and some tips I have for framing yours!

1. What you will need

- Frame {I used a 11" x 14"}

-Mat {to fit your frame, in this case 11" x 14" with a 8" x 10" opening}

- The print itself {mine is no longer on the websites, so unfortunately I can not link it}

-Glass Cleaner

-Coffee Filters {they work the best for cleaning glass and mirrors!}

-Tape {not photographed}

2. Clean Frame Glass

It is really important to clean the glass of your frame well. You don't want to have your print perfectly alined and hung on the wall before you realize there are a few finger prints visible for your audience. Been there, Done that. My Aunt (Joyce, Hi if you're reading this) showed me that coffee filters work wonders for cleaning glass and mirrors. No: streaks, dust, residue, nothing. Any glass cleaner will work, unless you have a favorite. Just make sure to clean the glass to rid it of any dust or finger prints.

3. Return Glass to Frame

Carefully place the glass back into your frame, being careful not to return the fingerprints you just removed! Once again... Been there, Done that!

4. Align Print to Mat 

Make sure that your print is centered well within your mat. You do not want this to be crooked! 

5. Tape Print to Mat {optional}

It is not always necessary to tape your print to the mat. But, for some reason, in this case mine was sliding around so I found it best to tape it to keep it in place!

6. Return Back of Frame to Frame

Lastly, close up your frame and hang!

I am so beyond happy with how this turned out!! Ahhh.. I'm literally jumping with joy.. so happy! I chose a gold frame and a brown mat, both from Michael's. I think the brown mat really brings out the brown hues in the print and dresses it up! Perfection.

I recommend checking out Micahel's for frames and mats! They are very reasonable with pricing, they usually have great coupons available online and the quality is great for the price. 

Unfortunately this print is no longer on the Lulu and Georgia site (sad face here) however there are a few more that I am hoping to add to my collection: Colette & Veronica ! I would highly recommend these they are great quality, awesome price and literally to cute to resist! I hope you found this post helpful and fun! Current Spring Wish List

Chanel Cream Blush // Celine Sunglasses // Kate Spade Salt & Pepper Shakers // Bean Boots // Tory Burch Key Fob // Tom Ford Nail Polishes

I have to say, it must be pink! I have been crushing on some of these items for quite some time and others, well, they are just to great not to share. I have wanted a pair of bean boots for quite some time and if you have to you know that they have been sold out everywhere for a while. I don't not which exact pair I want, I just know that I am dying to get a pair! Don't get me wrong, I love my rain boots but walking on campus in clunky rain boots isn't always great for running late. Hopefully, I will get around to getting a pair soon. A couple weeks ago I had to pick up some new makeup items (blogpost on that here) and spent a little too much at sake, so I received a coupon for $50 off a pair of sunglasses. Of course upon receiving that gift card I went straight to the sunglass area to take a look. I was shocked to see that they had Celine sunglasses an instantly fell in love with the pair above! They were gorge, like really stunning! I decided to wait and come back after I thought about them for a while. When I returned to purchase they only had one pair, the one's that were out for everyone to stick on their face, and they didn't fit! I was devastated. Now, I am on the hunt for a place to buy them since it is sort of difficult to find them online.
If you stalk the Tory Burch website, you are not alone (lol), you know that they have bags and accessories in this beautiful hot pink color, New Carnival. I have always wanted the key fob that is a small purse and now they have it in this beautiful hot pink color!! YES. Speaking of hot pink, Tom Ford has some beautiful nail colors for spring including the a gorgeous pink shade. I literally have so many hot pink nail polishes, the last thing I need is another one. But a girl can dream right? I have been dying to try Tom Ford cosmetics but I can't get them where I live and I don't always like to order online. But, while browsing online I found this beautiful Chanel Cream Blush in a neon pink from their spring collection.
Lastly, while looking around on the Kate Spade I found these salt & pepper shakers! Seriously, aren't they the cutest thing? I love gold and navy and polka dots too! They are so nautical and would be great for summer. I must save up!!
